May is long over, but a comment thread over at ALOTT5MA went blissfully astray in a fun discussion we ought continue – creative options for nixing the ”Why” without resorting to the infamously dreaded ”Because I said so.”

As I explained in my comment there, I choose to create fictional administrative bodies and then disclaim any role in the rulemaking process.  The more scientific-minded suggest boiling it all down to the rotation of the earth, while other lawyers seem fond of using the much-maligned Socratic Method.   What do you have?  How do you put a stop to the why-questions?
