Bloggers – the new millenium DJ’s
August 24, 2006 – 4:12 pm |Mommy, you wondered why we’re all blogging so much (a few posts down). It reminds me of radio DJ’s. At one point, I wondered out loud (I think, to you, Mommy) if DJ’s didn’t just get into that business because they liked to hear themselves talk, and liked the idea that there was an audience, even if they didn’t know who that audience was. I mean, yes, I know there are some that “really LOOOOOOOOOVE the music,” but come on, there’s got to be a few that just wanted the airwaves, right? I do believe that’s part of the allure of spewing words on to the internet. Especially in my case. For awhile, as a kid, I pretended I was a DJ. And then, with the advent of MTV, I pretended I was a VeeJay. So, Blogger has made it possible for each and everyone of us to have our own stage. To be sure, I’m no Howard Stern. I’m no Martha Quinn. Hell, I’m no Vanessa Minillo. I’m sure there are people saying exactly the same things I’m saying, and probably better. But it’s nice to imagine that I’ve finally found an audience for my pointless musings.
